KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on Tuesday, August 20th, to commemorate the Urs of the revered saint Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai across the province.
A notification has been issued, stating that all government offices, educational institutions, and businesses will remain closed on this day.
The three-day annual Urs celebrations will be held in Bhit Shah, the city where Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai lived and where his shrine is located.
The Sindh government’s official events will include the Shah Latif Literary Conference, traditional Sindh wrestling matches, Sufi music performances, agricultural and industrial exhibitions, a cultural village showcasing Sindhi heritage, and the distribution of the prestigious Shah Latif Award.
This public holiday highlights the importance of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s contributions to Sindhi literature and culture, as his poetry and teachings continue to inspire people worldwide.
