Rawalpindi is facing a significant rise in the prices of milk and yogurt, as the dairy farmers’ union has announced new rates.
This increase is driven by the soaring costs of fodder for buffaloes and higher taxes. The union stated that selling milk and yogurt at government rates is no longer feasible.
Starting from August 2, the new prices will come into effect. Milk will now cost Rs220 per litre, and yogurt will be priced at Rs240 per kilogramme. In comparison, the government has fixed the prices at Rs190 per litre for milk and Rs200 per kilogramme for yogurt.
The dairy farmers‘ union emphasized that these changes are essential to cover the rising expenses and maintain a sustainable business model. They believe that the new rates are a necessary adjustment to keep up with the increasing costs.
Residents of Rawalpindi will need to adapt to these new prices, which reflect the broader economic challenges faced by the dairy industry. As the community adjusts, the impact on household budgets and consumption patterns remains to be seen.
