The US Embassy in Pakistan has significantly reduced wait times for various visa appointments, cutting the average wait time from 440 days to 230 days.
This change aims to streamline the visa process for Pakistani applicants, particularly for student, business, and family reunion visas. The embassy is working diligently to manage the increased demand and assist as many applicants as possible.
The reduction in wait times signifies a shift in how the embassy addresses the visa processing backlog, especially for student visas. Currently, about 10,000 visa applications are processed each month, with a special focus on students.
This effort underscores the embassy’s commitment to supporting educational opportunities for Pakistani students.
For applicants who have already submitted their visa applications, the embassy now offers case reviews via email. Each application is reviewed individually, and decisions are typically made within three to four working days after the interview.
Regarding fees, the embassy confirmed that only the standard application fee is charged, which aligns with global US visa application charges.
A spokesperson noted that the past year saw the highest number of visa applications the embassy has ever managed, indicating a growing interest in US visas among Pakistanis.
This development reflects the embassy’s dedication to improving the visa application process and supporting the aspirations of Pakistani citizens.
