Milk prices increase in Pakistan

The Hyderabad district administration has announced a hike in milk prices, raising the cost by Rs 15 per liter, following recommendations from the Livestock Department.

The new price of milk in the city is now Rs 215 per liter, with the wholesale rate set at Rs 200 per liter.

This increase comes after discussions and recommendations from the Livestock Department, which sought to adjust prices in response to various economic factors.

Previously, in early June, the Commissioner of Karachi had announced a price revision, setting milk at Rs 220 per liter.

The rates were determined after consultations with the Dairy Farmers Association, establishing wholesale and dairy farmer prices at Rs 205 and Rs 195 per liter, respectively.

Dairy farmers had been pressing for a price hike, citing rising costs and the decrease in petroleum product prices.

The new rates reflect their demands and are intended to help cover the increased expenses associated with dairy farming.

Residents of Hyderabad will now need to adjust to the new milk prices, which have seen a consistent rise.

The district administration’s decision underscores the ongoing challenges in the dairy sector, balancing costs for farmers and consumers.

The impact of this price increase will likely be felt across the city, affecting household budgets and the overall cost of living.
