President, PM call for unity, tolerance in message on Ashura  

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has stressed upon the need of display of unity and facing the forces of cruelty and evil with steadfastness while learning lessons from the incident of Karbala.

He underscored that they should shun aside their personal interests for the sake of welfare and betterment of the nation and should not desist from giving any sacrifice while achieving this objective.

In a message on Youm e Ashur, 10th Muharram ul Haram, 1446 Hijrah, the president also appealed to the entire nation to stand for forbearance, hard work and justice, besides realizing the requirements of the poor and the needy, President Secretariat Press Wing said in a press release.

The president said that Youm e Ashur had a significant place in the Islamic history, the day reminded them of the shahadat of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), grandson of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) in the battlefield of Karbala.

Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) along with his faithful companions laid down their lives for the revival of Islamic values and the rights of Ummah while strongly resisting the forces of cruelty and tyranny, he added.

On the other hand,  Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stressed to promote equality, tolerance, unity and discipline within ourselves to deal the internal and external threats facing the country.

In his message on the occasion of Ashura, he advised to draw inspiration from the values of fortitude and courage from the martyrs of Karbala and show perseverance in trials.

The Prime Minister said we should forget the racial, professional, linguistic and other differences to make our country stronger.

Meanwhile,  Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has emphasized the timeless message of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), who stood against tyranny and injustice with unparalleled courage and unwavering faith.

“This day serves as a reminder for all of us to uphold the principles of truth, justice, and righteousness, even in the face of adversity,” he said in a message on the Youm-e-Ashura.

Bilawal Bhutto called for unity among the Muslim Ummah and urged all communities to promote peace and harmony.
