LAHORE: Heavy rainfall in Lahore on Friday shattered a 30-year record, with the Tajpura area receiving the highest amount of rain at 315 mm. The downpour, which began early in the morning, continued intermittently throughout the day across various parts of the city.

There were four episodes of heavy rain, with Tajpura recording the most rainfall, while Lakshmi Chowk saw 170 mm, Nishtar Town 162 mm, and Chowk Nakhuda 155 mm. The deluge caused significant commuting difficulties as roads became waterlogged.

In addition to Lahore, periodic rain continued in Sialkot and surrounding areas.

Earlier in the day, heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds hit Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and other parts of Punjab.

In Lahore, the rain provided relief from the heat in areas such as Shadman, Gulberg, Model Town, Jail Road, and Ichhra.

Gujarat and its surrounding areas also experienced heavy showers, as did Kanganpur and nearby regions in Kasur.

In Azad Kashmir, areas including Dadyal, Chakswari, Islamgarh, Khari Sharif, Jatlan, and Mangla saw significant rainfall.

Meanwhile, in Karachi, light rain has been falling intermittently since last night, creating pleasant weather.

Areas such as Gadap Town, Surjani Town, New Karachi, and North Karachi received light showers, with Federal B Area, Liaquatabad, and nearby regions also experiencing light rain.
