LAHORE – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts increased rainfall of varying intensities and gusty winds across Lahore and parts of Punjab from Friday evening through Sunday.
Weather Patterns
Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and a westerly wave affecting upper Pakistan are expected to bring torrential rains to several regions. Areas likely to be affected include Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, and many others in Punjab. Heavy rainfall may occur at isolated spots during this period.
Temperature Outlook
Lahore’s maximum temperatures are anticipated to range from 36-38°C on Saturday and 35-37°C on Sunday amidst these rainy conditions.
Recent Rainfall Data
Over the past 24 hours, Lahore and parts of Punjab witnessed varying intensities of rainfall.
- Lahore: Tajpura 120mm, Lakshmi Chowk 81mm, Qurtaba Chowk 70mm, Gulshan-e-Ravi 68mm, and others recorded significant rainfall.
- Rawalpindi: Chaklala AP received 30mm, with other areas also experiencing rainfall.
- Islamabad: Saidpur received 17mm, Golra 16mm, and other areas reported lighter showers.
- Other Areas: Kasur received 8mm, Murree 2mm.
Temperature Highlights
Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan reported the highest temperatures in Punjab, reaching up to 41 °C. In Lahore, the maximum temperature recorded was 40 °C, with relative humidity during the evening at 78 percent.
