Weather update; Isolated rainfall expected in Islamabad, Pakistan

Heavy rainfall predicted in Karachi from July 20

  • Karachi hot and humid with rain expected after July 20th.
  • Temperatures to reach 37°C with high humidity.
  • Weather improvement expected in 3-4 days.

Karachi remains under the spell of sweltering heat, punctuated by sporadic rainfall, while the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted substantial downpours in the city post-July 20.

The previous day saw the metropolis drenched in a heavy downpour around midday, affecting locales such as Saddar, II Chundrigar Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Karachi, and Gulistan-e-Johar.

The deluge brought the city’s activities to a standstill, with inundated streets and disrupted traffic flow.

Nonetheless, the PMD anticipates hot and muggy conditions to persist for the next 24 hours, but also suggests the possibility of rain and light showers in various city sectors today.

Temperatures are expected to peak between 35°C and 37°C, with the air’s humidity level projected at 80%, according to the PMD. It also noted that westerly winds are currently gentle.

Evening time is expected to see the return of the sea breeze.

“Low air pressure that caused rain in Karachi has moved towards Oman,” remarked Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz, indicating that certain areas might experience light rainfall or drizzle today.

He also mentioned that local heat could lead to cloud formation, and he anticipates an improvement in the city’s weather over the ensuing three to four days.
