Karachi Sindh weather update; more rains expected

KARACHI – Karachi, Hyderabad, and parts of Sindh are expected to experience more rain and gusty winds on Monday night and Tuesday.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), light to moderate monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are penetrating the upper and central parts of Pakistan. Additionally, a westerly wave is likely to affect the upper regions of the country starting July 11.

These weather conditions are expected to bring more rain and gusty winds to isolated areas including Jacobabad, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Qamber Shahdadkot, Larkana, Dadu, Padidan, Umarkot, Tharparkar, Mirpur Khas, Badin, Sajawal, Thatta, and Karachi on Monday night and Tuesday. There is a possibility of isolated heavy rainfall, which may cause flooding in low-lying areas. Elsewhere in the province, hot and humid weather is anticipated.

In Karachi, the maximum temperature is forecasted to range between 35-37°C on Tuesday and 34-36°C on Wednesday.

In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature is expected to be between 38-40°C on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Over the past 24 hours, rain, wind, and thundershowers were reported in Karachi and southeast Sindh.

Rainfall (in mm): Padidan 16, Karachi (Sarjani Town 07, Gulshan-e-Hadeed 04, Kemari 01), Tando Jam 05, Chhor 04, Shaheed Benazirabad 02.

Jacobabad was the hottest place in the province with a maximum temperature of 44°C. In Rohri, Mithi, and Mohenjo-Daro, the maximum temperature reached 42°C.

In Karachi, the maximum temperature recorded was 37°C, with an evening relative humidity of 72%.

In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature was 39°C, with an evening relative humidity of 68%.
