ISLAMABAD – The profit rates for various certificates, including Bahbood Savings Certificates, at the National Savings or Qaumai Bachat Bank remain unchanged in July 2024.
The Behbood certificates, introduced by the government in 2003, aim to support widows and the elderly by offering reasonable monthly profits.
Recently, the government revised the profit rates of the certificates on May 14. Since then, there have been no further changes, with the profit rate on Behbood Certificates remaining at 15.36%, or Rs 1,280.

In 2004, the scheme was expanded to include disabled individuals and special minors with disabilities, facilitated through their guardians.
The Behbood Savings Certificates are offered in denominations of Rs5,000, Rs10,000, Rs50,000, Rs100,000, Rs500,000, and Rs1,000,000.
Profit is paid on a monthly basis, starting from the date of the purchase of the certificates.
Who can purchase certificates?
BSCs can be purchased by any of the following citizens of Pakistan, namely:
(a) A senior citizen aged sixty years or older
(b) A single widow as long as she does not remarry
(c) Two eligible persons, as in clauses (a) and (b), in their joint names
(d) Disabled persons holding the NIC with the disability logo and special minors through a guardian.

Investment Limit
The minimum investment limit stands at Rs5,000, while a single person can make a maximum investment of Rs7.5 million, while the limit is Rs15 million for joint investors.
Behbood Savings Certificates: New Profit Rate in July 2024
The government has set the new profit rate for Behbood Savings Certificates at 15.36%, or Rs 1,280, for each Rs 100,000 investment.
Profit earned on Behbood Savings Certificates (BSCs) is exempt from withholding tax. Additionally, investments in BSCs are not subject to Zakat collection.
