Given the rise in illegal activities involving mobile SIM cards, it is advisable to regularly verify the ownership of SIM cards registered under your name to ensure their validity and prevent misuse. All Pakistanis can check the SIM owner’s name and ID card number registered with their telecom operator.
In the past, many SIM cards were obtained without proper registration, but due to the alarming increase in unauthorized use, the PTA now mandates SIM card registration to curb illicit activities and enhance user safety.
To check the SIM user’s name and CNIC number, there is no need to visit a network carrier or handle paperwork. Instead, you can send an SMS with the text “MNP” to 667 from your SIM card. This service is provided by all Pakistani telecom operators, including Jazz, Warid, Ufone, Zong, and Telenor.
For online verification of SIM owner details in Pakistan, several Android apps and software are available. While many of these apps are not officially approved by the telecom authority or any government agency, they can still provide the necessary information. According to the latest regulations, citizens can register up to five SIMs under one name.
