The cement price in Pakistan has increased, with a further rise of at least Rs 50 per sack anticipated.
According to the latest data from the Pakistan Statistical Institute, a sack of cement in Gujranwala has become the most expensive, reaching Rs 1340. This represents a 17.50% increase in one year.
In the northern regions of the country, the average price of a bag of cement was Rs 1300, marking a 15% increase over the past year. In the southern regions, the average price of a cement bag has risen by 3.5%, now standing at Rs 1204.
The Bureau of Statistics reported that the retail price of cement in Karachi on June 20 was Rs 1166.
Additionally, the federal government has decided to raise the federal excise duty on cement in the latest budget.
The duty rate has been increased from Rs 2 per kg to Rs 3 per kg. This change is expected to result in an additional price increase of at least Rs 50 per sack.
