PESHAWAR: The capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the price of tomatoes has surged by over 100 rupees per kilogram ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.
Three days ago, tomatoes were selling for Rs 40-50 per kg, but the price has now skyrocketed to Rs 150 per kg.
This price hike comes as profiteers exploit public demand before the festival. Additionally, prices of other vegetables, including onions, green chilies, and ginger, have also increased.
In response, the district administration has imposed Section 144 to curb the supply of tomatoes to other districts.
This ban will last for the next 10 days, during which no individual or organization is permitted to transport tomatoes out of Peshawar. This measure aims to stabilize local tomato prices and prevent further exploitation by profiteers.
