In May, the price of flour in the country experienced a notable decrease of 29.26%, offering a potential relief for consumers. Conversely, the consumption of urea and DAP saw an upward trend in the first five months of the current year compared to the same period last year.
Urea consumption from January to May reached 2,555,000 tonnes, marking a 3% increase from the previous year. Meanwhile, during May 2024, there was a significant decline in the average prices of edible oil and vegetable ghee across the nation.
According to the Bureau of Statistics, the average price of one liter of mustard oil was Rs 495.43 in May 2024, indicating a decrease of 0.88% from the previous month. Similarly, the average price for 5 liters of Dalda cooking oil decreased to Rs 2652.29 in May, down by 0.69% compared to April.
These fluctuations in prices and consumption patterns signify the dynamic nature of the market and its impact on consumers’ purchasing power.
