The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), operating under the Ministry of Interior, issues various identity documents to Pakistani citizens and provides solutions for identification, e-governance, and secure documentation.

In March 2000, NADRA embarked on the civil registration of all Pakistanis. Within a short period, the NADRA team developed an advanced centralized data warehouse, network infrastructure, and interactive data acquisition systems to issue secure National Identity Cards (NIC).

This new, highly sophisticated computerized system has effectively reduced the risk of identity theft.

NADRA issues several documents, including the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC), NICOP, Family Registration Certificate, B-Form, death certificates, and more.
