BEIJING: CEO AsiaPak and CEO DAEWOO Express Shaheryar Chishty has signed MOUs in China with Chinese companies on Thar Coal Gasification and Electric Bus Manufacturing.

Next level of CPEC is engaged with private sector leading the way, fully supported by Pakistan’s Government.

Speaking at the Pakistan-China Friendship and Business event co-organized by Pakistan Embassy in China, Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and China International Cultural Communication Center (CICCC) held in Beijing on Thursday (June 6), Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed the confidence that the next phase of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would serve to further deepen the Pakistan-China strategic partnership.

 

Highlighting CPEC as the major plank of Pakistan’s economic reform agenda, the prime minister said that CPEC presented a success story of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation and a solid foundation for Pakistan’s economic development.

The event was also attended by senior members of the Prime Minister’s entourage and a large number of prominent Chinese dignitaries, officials, academics, think-tank experts and businesspersons.

On Friday (June 7), Pakistan and China signed 23 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements to deepen bilateral cooperation in multiple areas including transport infrastructure, industry, energy, agriculture, media, health, water, socioeconomic development, and other areas of mutual interest.

The documents were signed after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang held delegation-level talks wherein they reaffirmed that the Pakistan-China Strategic Cooperative Partnership was characterized by mutual trust, shared principles, and strategic governance.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Premier Li Qiang witnessed the ceremony as representatives from both sides signed the documents.
