The federal government is conversing proposal to abolish the Saturday holiday for federal government employees.
A final result will be declared in the coming days as the federal government requested approvals on the holiday. If accepted, two day weekly off will be removed starting July 1, 2024.
Currently, most federal government departments observe two weekly holidays – Saturday and Sunday.
The public sector employees are also expected to oppose the proposal to end one of the weekly holidays.
During Shehbaz Sharif’s last term, the government measured reinstating the Saturday holiday for government employees. Though, the decision faced major fight and was not executed.
