KARACHI: The world’s largest cargo ship, MSC Anna, has made a historic arrival at Karachi port on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone for the port.
The colossal vessel arrived from India’s Port Mundra and anchored at Karachi port, highlighting the port’s growing importance in international maritime trade.
MSC Anna boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 400 meters in length and having a capacity to carry 19,638 containers.
According to the port administration, the ship is currently carrying its full capacity of 19,638 containers. After completing the regulation process, the unloading of containers will commence, as confirmed by a Karachi Port Trust (KPT) spokesperson.
The ship is scheduled for a one-day stopover at Karachi port, during which it will unload its cargo before departing.
To celebrate this significant event, the port administration has organized an arrival ceremony for MSC Anna. This event will not only mark the ship’s arrival but also underscore the strategic importance of Karachi port in facilitating international maritime trade.
The arrival of MSC Anna is a testament to the port’s capability to handle large-scale cargo operations and its pivotal role in global shipping routes.
