KARACHI: Karachi experiences the hottest day of the year on Wednesday.

Today the temperature was recorded at 41.5 degrees Celsius, said the Meteorological Department.

Gulshan-e-Johar emerged as the hottest area in Karachi, with the mercury reaching 42.5 degrees Celsius.

Beyond Karachi, Sindh experienced an intense heatwave. Mohenjo Daro, Larkana, and Jacobabad recorded temperatures soaring to and above 50 degrees Celsius. Dadu reached 49 degrees, Sukkur 48 degrees, and Sahiwal 46 degrees.

Punjab also experienced high temperatures, with Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, and Lahore recording 45 degrees Celsius.

Rahim Yar Khan and Hyderabad both reached 46 degrees Celsius, with a perceived heat index of 49 degrees. Peshawar recorded 40 degrees, while Islamabad experienced 39 degrees Celsius.
