RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir has telephoned the Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri and expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of President Ibrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir Abdullahi and other important officials in a helicopter crash on 19 May 2024.
The Army Chief described late President Ibrahim Raisi and late Foreign Minister Amir Abdullahiyan as best leaders and friends of Pakistan. He termed the demise of the two leaders as a tragic and irreparable loss.
On behalf of the officers and Jawans of the Pakistan Army, the Army Chief prayed for the deceased and expressed his best wishes for the affected families.
Pakistan has historical cultural and fraternal ties with Iran, he observed and added that the armed forces of Pakistan and Iran have always stood by each other.
Iranian Chief of General Staff General Bagheri expressed his gratitude to the Army Chief for his condolence.
The Iranian Chief of General Staff reaffirmed the commitment to continue cooperation between the two armed forces.
