Veteran actor Talat Hussain passes away

Pakistan’s veteran actor Talat Hussain passed away after prolonged illness, the President Karachi Arts Council Ahmed Shah confirmed on Sunday.

The President Karachi Arts Council revealed that he was informed of Talat Hussain’s death by his daughter.

Ahmed Shah said that the veteran actor was admitted in the ICU for several days in a private hospital.

The prolific actor was born in September 1940 in Delhi, India. He was married to professor Rakhshanda Hussain. He was a father of two daughters and a son.

Talat Hussain began his acting career at a very young age in 1970.

Hussain, an alumnus of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, has been honored with Pakistan’s prestigious Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2021 and the Pride of Performance Award in 1982.

His talent was recognized internationally, earning him the Amanda Award for Best Supporting Actor in the Norwegian film “Import Eksport” in 2006, and the Nigar Award for his role in “Miss Bangkok” in 1986.

A stalwart of the Pakistani entertainment industry, Hussain’s contributions spanned acting, singing, and writing, leaving a lasting legacy.

He performed in notable dramas such as “Arjumand,” “Ansoo,” “Bandish,” “Des Pardes,” “Tariq Bin Ziad,” “Eid ka Jora,” “Fanooni Latifey,” and “Hawain.”
