The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is set to have its warm-up matches from May 27 to June 1, taking place in various locations in the USA and Trinidad and Tobago.
The 16 warm-up games leading up to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 will be hosted at several venues including the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Texas, Broward County Stadium in Florida, Queen’s Park Oval, and Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago.
There will be 17 teams participating in these warm-up matches, with South Africa scheduled for an intra-squad game on May 29 in Florida.
Both Pakistan and England have opted out of any pre-tournament warm-up matches as they will be involved in a T20I series from May 22 to May 30.
The Pakistani team, led by Babar Azam, will land in the USA on June 1 and will start their tournament against the co-hosts on June 6. On the other hand, England will commence their campaign on June 4.
New Zealand has also decided not to participate in the practice matches and will play their opening game against Afghanistan on June 8.
These warm-up games will consist of 20 overs per side and won’t be recognized as official T20 internationals, thus allowing teams to field all members of their 15-player squad.
Unlike the previous cycle, teams now have the option to play up to two warm-up matches, depending on when they arrive at the event.
The warm-up match between the West Indies and Australia at Queen’s Park Oval, Trinidad and Tobago on May 30 will be accessible to spectators.
