“If you look at the average, you are an average player,” says Mohammad Rizwan

  • Playing for the average makes you an average player, said Mohammad Rizwan
  • Rizwan showed resect to Virat Kohli’s approach.
  • He also acknowledged Ireland’s strong performance.

Mohammad Rizwan, the wicketkeeper-batter for Pakistan, stated that a player who plays for the average is an average player.

Rizwan is the second player in T20Is to have an average of over 50. He is part of an exclusive group of two players that includes him and the former Indian captain, Virat Kohli. Rizwan has an average of 50.38, while Kohli’s average stands at 51.75.

“If you look at the average, you are an average player. If you look at the conditions and what the game demands that will make you better. We have learned a lot of things from Virat Kohli, I respect him,” he expressed during a post-match presentation following the victory in the second T20I against Ireland.

He also commented on the game and praised his partnership with Fakhar Zaman.

“They played really well against us. It was not an easy chase because the Ireland bowlers knew their conditions better, they gave us a difficult time early on, but we decided that chasing 194, we have to attack. You’re always in pressure when you lose especially with World Cup around the corner,” he further added.
