The Pakistani government has raised fees for getting passports faster, starting from May 8. This decision comes because there’s a delay in issuing passports, mainly because there’s not enough lamination paper. So, people have to wait for several months to get their passports.
Here are the new fees for different types of passports:
- A 36-page passport that lasts for 5 years will cost Rs 12,500.
- If you want a 10-year passport, it will cost Rs 16,200.
- For a 5-year, 72-page travel document, the fee is Rs 18,500.
- If you prefer a 10-year, 72-page document, it will cost Rs 25,200.
- And if you need a 100-page passport that lasts for 10 years, it will cost Rs 32,000.
This increase in fees is approved by the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports (DGI&P). It’s part of a bigger plan to improve passport services and make them more secure. Right now, passports are mostly given to people who pay extra for urgent processing, which is why there’s a big backlog of pending passports.
