Islamabad, Lahore, Punjab weather Update: Temperature to increase up to 5°C above average

Daytime temperatures in Islamabad, Lahore, and parts of Punjab are predicted to be 3-5 degrees Celsius higher than usual this week. However, rain, wind, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms expected during the weekend will help return temperatures to normal levels.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reports that high pressure will continue in the upper atmosphere across most parts of the country, especially in the southern regions. A westerly wave is expected to enter western areas on May 10th (evening/night) and reach upper parts by May 11th.

Due to this weather system, daytime temperatures are anticipated to remain 3-5°C above normal levels from May 8th to May 10th. Rain, wind, and thunderstorms are expected in various areas of Punjab from May 10th (night) to May 12th.

Additionally, rain, wind, and thunderstorms are forecasted in other parts of Punjab on May 10th and 11th, along with isolated hailstorms. Wet conditions and gusty winds during the weekend will help normalize temperatures.

Potential impacts and advice include:

Farmers should adjust crop watering and wheat harvesting accordingly.
The general public should minimize direct exposure to sunlight.
Be prepared for windstorms, hailstorms, lightning, which could affect daily routines, crops, and structures like electric poles and solar panels.
