ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has dismissed unfounded accusations against Justice Babar Sattar, including claims of dual citizenship.
In an official statement, the court refuted baseless social media rumors and clarified that Justice Sattar’s possession of a green card was known to the then-Chief Justice at the time of his appointment.
Following his appointment, Justice Sattar’s children acquired Pakistani citizenship, and his mother has operated a school since 1992.
The court emphasized that Justice Sattar holds only Pakistani citizenship and denounced the malicious dissemination of his personal information on social media, including travel documents of his family.
According to the IHC statement, Justice Sattar completed his legal education at Oxford University and Harvard Law School, and he obtained a permanent US residency card due to his exceptional qualifications, which he surrendered upon returning to Pakistan in 2005.
It is noteworthy that on December 28, 2020, the then President Arif Alvi approved the appointments of Babar Sattar and Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri as judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
