A driving license is an official permit that allows the holder to drive various types of motor vehicles on public roads. In Karachi, most licenses issued fall under the car or motorcycle category, reflecting the city’s primary mode of transportation.
Upon completing the duration of their learner permit, Karachi’s citizens must secure an online pre-appointment to apply for the car and motorcycle license. This step is mandatory before they can start driving legally.
After obtaining the pre-appointment token, applicants must physically visit the relevant driving license branch with their original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC). Following registration, they undergo a fitness examination by a medical officer, as required by the Motor Vehicle Ordinance of 1965.

The final stages include theoretical and practical tests. Successful candidates receive a permanent driving license.
