The Punjab Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control department has ended the collection of fees for the issuance of computerized vehicle and motorcycle number plates, putting an end to years of prevention skilled by the public due to delays in the process.
This choice follows the regional cabinet’s move to remove the government’s monopoly on number plate manufacturing.
As per the new plan, multiple private companies will now be allowed to manufacture and distribute plates to customers.
Excise Director General Faisal Fareed has issued a notification instructing officials to refrain from collecting fees for number plates.
It is probable that connecting private companies will not only streamline the process but also potentially decrease costs by up to Rs500.
This development will bring substantial relief to car and motorcycle buyers who have been waiting for years to receive their number plates despite paying the mandatory fees.
