ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has firmly rebutted the remarks made by US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu regarding allegations of espionage, insisting on a fresh investigation into the issue.
Lu, in his recent statement, dismissed former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s claims of espionage as a “conspiracy theory, falsehood, and outright lie.”
Addressing the media, Barrister Gohar pointed out Lu’s inconsistencies in previous statements concerning the espionage allegations.
He emphasized the need for Pakistan’s former envoy to the US, Asad Majeed, to provide clarification, as he reportedly had interactions with Lu in the past.
In light of Lu’s denial, the PTI chief reiterated the call for a renewed investigation into the espionage allegations. During his testimony before a subcommittee of the US panel, Lu emphasized that the accusations against him and the US government were baseless and unsubstantiated.
The subcommittee, under the title ‘Pakistan After the elections: Examining the future of Democracy in Pakistan and the US Pakistan relationship,’ posed questions to Lu regarding the allegations and his perspective on them.
