The Punjab Health Department has initiated an operation targeting unregistered and substandard medicines across the province.

On Thursday, a special team conducted raids on the factories of Uppal Pharma and BH Pharma located on Multan Road in Lahore. Punjab Health Minister Imran Nazir supervised the operation, which included Chief Drug Controller Athar Jamal, Deputy Drug Controller Bilal Yasin, and area drug inspectors.

The team recommended filing FIRs and shutting down both factories for producing unregistered and substandard medicines.

Speaking to the media, Imran Nazir pledged to take all necessary actions to rid Punjab of unregistered, substandard, and counterfeit drugs.

He mentioned the department’s apprehension of a racket in Faisalabad with connections to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology. Nazir emphasized that implementing hygiene principles in the province is a top priority.
