Expected Schengen Visa Fee Update for Pakistanis, March 2024

  • The European Commission considers raising Schengen visa fees for all EU countries, including Pakistanis.
  • The proposed increase will raise Schengen visa expenses for Pakistanis in 2024.
  • In 2022, many Pakistanis faced visa rejections from Spain, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands.

The European Commission is thinking about increasing Schengen visa fees for all EU countries for foreign nationals, Pakistanis included, due to inflation.

The commission has suggested a 12.5% rise in Schengen visa fees across various categories. If approved, the new fee for an adult visa applicant will be ninety euros (€90), up from the previous €80.

The proposed increase would indeed raise Schengen visa expenses for Pakistanis in the current calendar year of 2024.

The draft also suggests revising prices for regular and minor applicants, along with nationals of non-cooperating countries, potentially increasing their fees to €135 and €180, respectively.

The commission has suggested keeping the fee for extension visa applications unchanged at €30, with no proposed changes.

Additionally, the commission has proposed raising the fee for child applicants by five euros, from €40 to €45.

In 2022, many Pakistanis applied for visas to Spain, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands, but a large number of these applications were rejected by the respective countries.
