Islamabad, Pakistan weather forecast; widespread rains, snowfall expected!

  • Expect widespread rainfall and snowfall in mountainous areas.
  • A westerly wave, predicted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD),
  • Islamabad’s minimum temperature is expected to be 9 degrees Celsius.

In Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and various parts of Pakistan, we anticipate widespread rainfall, snowfall in mountainous regions, and isolated hailstorms from Tuesday evening or night through Thursday.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave is expected to move into the western regions of Pakistan by tonight. By Wednesday, it is forecast to affect much of the upper and central parts of the country.

In Balochistan, upper Sindh, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and surrounding hilly regions, expect rain, accompanied by wind or thunderstorms, and snowfall in mountainous areas from Tuesday evening or night through Thursday.

Heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding in the local streams of Gwadar, Ketch, Turbat, and Panjgur, while snowfall may disrupt traffic in northern Balochistan on Tuesday and Wednesday. Additionally, heavy rain and snowfall may prompt road closures in various areas, including Murree, Galyat, Naran, Kaghan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Shangla, Astore, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Bagh, Poonch, and Haveli, on Wednesday and Thursday. Landslides are also a concern in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan due to heavy precipitation. Furthermore, wind, thunderstorms, and hailstorms could potentially damage vulnerable structures such as electric poles and solar panels.

The minimum temperatures in Islamabad are expected to range between 09–11 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 08–10 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

Rawalpindi is forecast to have minimum temperatures ranging between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 11 and 13 degrees Celsius on Thursday.

During the past 24 hours, most parts of the country experienced cold and partly cloudy weather. However, isolated rainfall was observed in northern Balochistan, upper and southern Punjab, and Bagrote.
