Normal Passport New Fees in Pakistan – March 2024

In a recent development, the federal government of Pakistan has implemented a significant rise in fees for machine-readable passports, affecting citizens applying under both normal and urgent categories.

This decision, made amidst prevailing economic difficulties, adds further strain on the populace.

Revised Fees and Their Implications

Revised fees for normal passport applications, effective March 7, 2024, are as follows:

  • 36 Pages:
    • 5 years of validity: Rs 4,500
    • 10 years of validity: Rs 6,700
  • 72 Pages:
    • 5 years of validity: Rs 8,200
    • 10 years of validity: Rs 12,400
  • 100 Pages:
    • 5 years of validity: Rs9,000
    • 10 years of validity: Rs 13,500

The fee for a 36-page passport with a five-year validity has surged from Rs3,000 to Rs4,500. Similarly, the fee for a 72-page passport with a five-year validity has risen to Rs8,200, while the 100-page passport fee now stands at Rs9,000.

For longer validity periods, the fee for a 10-year validity 36-page passport has increased to Rs6,700, up from Rs4,500. The 72-page passport with a decade-long validity now incurs a fee of Rs12,400, and the 100-page passport fee for the same duration is set at Rs13,500.

This hike is anticipated to particularly affect citizens facing financial constraints, raising concerns about accessibility to essential travel documents.

While the government provides reasons for the fee adjustment, citizens grapple with the implications of additional financial pressure during these trying times. Stay informed for further updates on this matter.
