KARACHI: In a move signaling organizational restructuring, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has dissolved its Rabita Committee.
According to a statement by the MQM-P spokesperson, a meeting chaired by Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui unanimously decided to reorganize the Rabita Committee in the initial phase.
The spokesperson clarified that the current Rabita Committee was dissolved following a decision by the party leadership.
Furthermore, it was mentioned that subsequent to the restructuring of the Rabita Committee, the party’s provincial committees, zones, towns, and Union Councils (UCs) would undergo restructuring in the subsequent phase.
“A Central Ad Hoc Committee has also been formed by Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui,” stated the spokesperson.

This ad hoc committee, headed by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, comprises members such as Syed Mustafa Kamal, Dr. Farooq Sattar, Nasreen Jalil, Anis Kaimkhani, Kaiful Wara, and Rizwan Babar.
Earlier, the MQM-P Rabita Committee postponed its decision regarding whether to support Asif Ali Zardari in the presidential election.
Sources revealed that the Rabita Committee meeting, specifically convened to discuss the presidential election, was deferred due to the busy schedules of its members. It was subsequently rescheduled for Wednesday.
