KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced the closure of all educational institutions during the evening shift throughout the province on Friday. This decision comes in response to the anticipated heavy rainfall forecasted for the region. The Education Department has issued a notification confirming the closure of evening shift classes in both government and private educational establishments, including schools, colleges, and universities.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall accompanied by wind or thunderstorms in most districts of Sindh. Karachi, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Larkana, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Khairpur, and Mirpurkhas are among the areas expected to experience significant rain and thunderstorms on February 29th and March 1st. Additionally, isolated hailstorms are also anticipated during this period.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has declared a rain emergency in the province following the weather forecast. He chaired a meeting to address the weather emergency and instructed all local bodies, administrations, and hospitals to be on high alert. Furthermore, it was decided during the meeting that both government and private institutions in Karachi would operate on a half-day basis on Friday due to the anticipated rain situation.
