ISLAMABAD: Journalist Asad Ali Toor was handed over to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on 5-day physical remand.

Asad Ali Toor was produced in the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad, where the court handed over Asad Ali Toor to FIA on 5-day physical remand.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan(HRCP) has expressed concern over the arrest of journalist Asad Ali Toor and demanded his immediate release.

Earlier, Superintendent  of Police (SP) Ijaz Khan was martyred and three others sustained injuries in exchange of firing in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) spokesman, there was an exchange of fire between the police and the terrorists in Mardan’s Katlang tehsil, during which SP Ijaz Khan was martyred by the firing of the terrorists.

The spokesperson said that two officials including deputy superintendent of police (DSP) were seriously injured due to firing by terrorists who were shifted to the hospital for medical assistance while two wanted terrorists were killed in police firing.
