Prepare for Rain and Snowfall, Warning Issued

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning to all district administrations in light of the Meteorological Department’s forecast predicting another round of rainfall and snowfall in the upper regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the alert, the upcoming spell of rain and snowfall is anticipated to begin on February 25 across the province. District administrations have been urged to take precautionary measures to mitigate any potential risks associated with the expected weather conditions.

Muhammad Qaiser Khan, the Director General of PDMA, expressed apprehension about the likelihood of landslides occurring in the upper districts of KP due to the forecasted snowfall and rains. As a result, directives have been issued to ensure the availability of both small and heavy machinery by district administrations.

The DG PDMA also provided advice for the public, urging them to avoid areas near power lines, unstable buildings, structures, and signage. Additionally, tourists and locals residing in vulnerable upper areas were advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and take necessary safety precautions.

District administrations in sensitive upper regions have been instructed to disseminate weather-related messages in local languages to effectively communicate with the local population. In case of emergencies, all relevant organizations have been tasked with maintaining road accessibility and providing alternative routes if necessary.

Muhammad Qaiser Khan emphasized the importance of alerting passengers traveling on provincial and national highways in sensitive areas to ensure their safety during adverse weather conditions.
