From Sunday night to Tuesday, Pakistan is bracing for a combination of rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall in various regions, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). This weather pattern is attributed to a westerly wave expected to enter Balochistan on Sunday night before spreading to the upper parts of the country by Monday.
Balochistan is likely to experience rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall in several districts including Chaghi, Quetta, and Zhob, among others, on February 25 night and February 26. Similarly, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir, Punjab, and Islamabad are also expected to see varying degrees of precipitation during this period.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, regions like Chitral, Swat, and Peshawar may experience snowfall over the hills alongside rain and thunderstorms. Meanwhile, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir are forecasted to witness similar weather conditions, potentially causing road closures and disruptions in areas like Murree, Naran, and Skardu.
The PMD has issued advisories, warning of possible road closures, flash flooding, and landslides due to heavy snowfall and rainfall. Residents and travelers in affected areas are advised to exercise caution, particularly in regions prone to landslides and flash floods.
Farmers and tourists are urged to remain vigilant as wind thunderstorms may pose risks to loose structures like electric poles and solar panels. The authorities are closely monitoring the situation and advising necessary precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens during the forecasted weather spell.
