PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court seeking to be allotted reserve seats in the national and provincial assemblies.
PTI’s Mashal Azam Yousafzai filed a petition through lawyer Qazi Anwar, in which it was stated that the candidates who have submitted their papers for the specific seats and who have been scrutinized should be adjusted.
The petition said that PTI is a listed party and reserved seats are party right. The candidates who submitted papers for specific seats are PTI members.
The candidates have also given affidavits that they are candidates of PTI. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) cannot delist any party, only the Supreme Court can do it.
The ECP has been made a party in the petition and it has been requested to fix the petition for hearing today.
