ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday announced a new partnership with the Sunni Ittehad Council and Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM).

The announcement was made by Barrister Gohar, accompanied by MWM leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Sunni Ittehad Council’s chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza and Omar Ayub Khan.

Barrister Gohar stated that independent candidates supported by PTI, particularly in central, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions, will align with the Sunni Ittehad Council. He emphasized that this decision came after extensive discussions among PTI, SIC, and MWM.

Barrister Gohar mentioned that PTI candidates would formally submit their affiliation documents with the Sunni Ittehad Council to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) today (Monday).

Reiterating PTI’s claims of electoral irregularities, Barrister Gohar asserted that despite allegedly winning 170 to 180 seats in the National Assembly, the results were manipulated.

Omar Ayub Khan, speaking at the event, explained that the decision to join the Sunni Ittehad Council was primarily driven by the desire to secure reserved seats, which are exclusively allocated to political parties.

In response to revelations made by former Rawalpindi commissioner Liaquat Chatha, Ayub accused rigging tactics aimed at preventing PTI from securing victory in the elections.

He also accused the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan of unfairly acquiring PTI’s seats in Karachi and Hyderabad during the 2024 elections.

MWM leader Allama Nasir Abbas and Sunni Ittehad Council head Hamid Raza Khan praised PTI for its electoral performance without its traditional “bat” symbol. Both leaders affirmed that their alliance with PTI is unconditional.
