ISLAMABAD: PTI leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan asserted that should the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) base its results on Form 45, Omar Ayub Khan would emerge as the Prime Minister.
During a press briefing in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar urged an immediate investigation into allegations of electoral fraud raised by the Commissioner of the Rawalpindi division.
It’s noteworthy that Commissioner Rawalpindi, Liaqat Ali Chatha, tendered his resignation, taking responsibility for the alleged electoral malpractice during the 2024 elections.
Chatha conceded that electoral fraud occurred under his oversight, where candidates leading with significant margins, exceeding 70,000 votes, were unjustly turned into losers through the use of counterfeit seals.
Barrister Gohar emphasized that the Commissioner, in acknowledging the defeat of winning candidates, should disclose the identities of these candidates. He remarked, “We were winning as per Form 45, but later our candidates were declared defeated with Form 47.”

He highlighted the gravity of the Commissioner’s statement, suggesting that delving into a fresh election would necessitate uncovering hidden truths.
It’s pertinent to note that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder designated the party’s Secretary-General, Omar Ayub Khan, as their nominee for the Prime Ministerial position.
Speaking to reporters outside Adiala Jail following a meeting with the detained PTI founder, Asad Qaiser revealed that Omar Ayub Khan would be their contender for the PM role.
Omar Ayub Khan, an independent candidate supported by PTI, clinched victory in the National Assembly constituency NA-18, Haripur, securing 192,948 votes.
As per the unofficial results released by the Returning Officer/ECP, his closest rival was Babar Nawaz Khan from the Pakistan Muslim League (N), with 112,389 votes. The voter turnout stood at 49.88%.
