Islamabad: President Dr. Arif Alvi has called a meeting of the Senate on February 19 at 3 pm, Bol News reported.
The news sources said that Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani will preside over the meeting, Senate members who retired in March will give farewell speeches in the meeting.
Moreover, according to the constitution of Pakistan, half of the members of the Senate will be elected in March.
Earlier, President Alvi expressed his congratulations to the people of Pakistan for their robust participation in the electoral process, emphasizing the significance of their faith in democracy.
In a statement shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, President Alvi highlighted the notable turnout in the General Elections held on February 8th, particularly praising the involvement of women.
President Alvi commended the Pakistani populace, with a special acknowledgment for women, for their substantial presence at the polls, which he viewed as a reinforcement of democratic values.
He lauded the youth for their peaceful engagement in the electoral process, underscoring their decision to actively shape the country’s future through democratic means.
