Bahrain has declared that public sector organizations will have a half-day break on Thursday, February 22, to allow staff members to participate in the annual Sports Day events. This decision was made during a recent cabinet meeting.
Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in his roles as First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport, Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), recognized King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s support for advancing the sports sector and promoting a dynamic, health-conscious lifestyle.
Bahrain Sports Day has become a significant national event, eagerly anticipated by citizens and residents who engage in various sports and awareness-raising activities.
In line with the cabinet’s decision, Shaikh Daij bin Salman bin Daij Al Khalifa, President of the Civil Service Bureau (CSB), directed all ministries, institutions, and departments to observe Thursday, February 22, as a half-day workday in observance of Bahrain National Sports Day.
Shaikh Daij bin Salman urged these entities to ensure smooth work processes continue to avoid disruptions to public services. Furthermore, he encouraged organizing sports programs for staff members between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., aiming to promote employee well-being and cultivate a culture of physical activity and wellness within the public sector.
