Six more independent candidates join PML-N

LAHORE: Six more independent candidates who secured victories in the 2024 General Elections have declared their intention to align with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

Among them, Rasheed Akbar Noorani, the elected Member of the National Assembly from NA-92, along with five recently elected members of the Punjab Assembly, convened with PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz to convey their ‘full confidence’ in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif’s party.

The newly affiliated MPAs to the PML-N comprise Irfanullah Khan Niazi from PP-90, Muhammad Amir Inayat from PP-92, Muhammad Akbar Hayat from PP-205, Asghar Hayat from PP-212, and Rana Abdul Manan from PP-272. Maryam Nawaz warmly welcomed the independent candidates into the PML-N, emphasizing that the people of Punjab have entrusted their mandate to the party, pledging to undertake ‘exemplary’ development initiatives in the province.

Asserting that only her party has the capability to steer Pakistan out of crises, the PML-N senior vice president expressed confidence in the party’s potential.

Earlier, on February 14, six independent victors of Punjab Assembly seats in the 2024 General Elections had announced their decision to join the PML-N.

These newly aligned MPAs communicated their choice to align with the PML-N during a meeting with Maryam Nawaz in Lahore. The independent candidate additions to the PML-N include Sultan Bajwa from PP-132 Nankana, Shazia Tareen from PP-225 Lodhran, Mahmood Qadir Laghari from PP-289 Dera Ghazi Khan, Hanif Pitafi from PP-288 Dera Ghazi Khan, Taimoor Ali from PP-94 Chiniot, and Ali Asghar from PP-283 Layyah.
