In an effort to cover rising costs and fuel expenses, commuters using Punjab’s Metro Bus and Orange Line Train routes will soon experience slightly higher fares, as announced by the interim government.

The outgoing Punjab administration has approved fare increases for the Orange Line Train and Multan Metro Bus. Starting immediately, passengers will encounter a modest rise of five rupees per ticket for the Orange Line Metro Train and a similar adjustment for the Multan metro bus. Additionally, feeder bus fares will go up by Rs 5 due to increasing fuel prices.

This decision is not unexpected given the current economic conditions, and the government anticipates an extra annual revenue of Rs. 82.85 million from these fare adjustments.

However, passengers on Lahore and Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus services will not experience any changes in fares as of February 2024.

It’s important to note that earlier proposals suggesting a substantial Rs.15 fare increase for Metrobus and Speedobus services were rejected by the government.
