LAHORE: Four newly-elected independent members of the Punjab Assembly have announced their support for the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), which secured only two National Assembly seats in the general elections held on February 8.

Ghazanfar Abbas Cheena, Hafiz Tahir, Zahid Bhutta, and Awais Dareshak, after a meeting with IPP president Abdul Aleem Khan, have pledged their allegiance to the party. They cited their confidence in Khan’s leadership and the party’s vision for stability as their reasons for joining.

Aleem Khan expressed optimism about the party’s growth, mentioning that another 10 to 15 assembly members are currently in discussions to join IPP.

Earlier in the day, the PML-N announced that six more newly-elected members of the Punjab Assembly have joined their ranks.

These include Sultan Bajwa from PP-132 in Nankana Sahib, Shazia Tareen from Lodhran, Mehmood Qadir Laghari, and Hanif Patafi from Dera Ghazi Khan, Taimur Lali from Chiniot, and Ali Asgar from Leh.
