Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar says that peaceful elections were held despite the threats of terrorism, democratic continuity in the country is welcome despite the challenges.
While holding a press conference in Islamabad, Caretaker PM Anwar ul Haq said that the security agencies played an important role in conducting the elections, it took a month to count the votes in Indonesia, but a projection was made in the first two and a half hours here.
The caretaker prime minister further added that there were 90,000 polling stations across the country and internet facilities were available everywhere.
Moreover, in 36 hours, the election results were established, there may have been irregularities, but there is a forum for that.
Earlier, Kakar congratulating the nation over the successful conduct of general elections 2024, said the high voter turnout was a clear indication of public commitment to shaping the country’s future.
“The participation and enthusiasm of the people of Pakistan have been the cornerstone of this democratic exercise. The high voter turnout is a clear indication of public commitment to shaping the future of our country,” the prime minister wrote on his X timeline following the polling ended after a smooth and peaceful process across the country.
He appreciated the efforts of the Election Commission of Pakistan, interim provincial governments, armed forces, civil armed forces, police, law enforcement agencies, election staff, media and all those institutions and individuals who contributed to the conduct of the free and fair elections.
