ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken action regarding the results of three National Assembly constituencies in Islamabad, namely NA-46, NA-47, and NA-48, where PML-N candidates were initially declared victorious according to unofficial results.
In NA-46, the ECP restrained the Returning Officer from issuing the final notification of the result due to a challenge raised by independent candidate Rao Masood regarding the Form 47 of the constituency’s result. Unofficially, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s candidate Anjum Aqeel Khan was declared the winner, with PTI-supported independent candidate Amir Masood securing the runner-up position.
Similarly, in NA-47, PML-N’s Tariq Fazal Chaudhry was declared successful, while the PTI-supported rival Shoaib Shaheen was the runner-up.
In NA-48, an independent candidate Raja Khurram Shehzad was initially declared successful, with PTI-supported rival Syed Muhammad Ali Bukhari coming in second. Notably, Raja Khurram Shehzad announced his intention to join PML-N after winning the election.
These actions by the ECP indicate a scrutiny process over the election results, ensuring transparency and fairness in the electoral process by addressing challenges and discrepancies raised by various candidates.
