The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts cold and dry weather for Lahore and parts of Punjab on Tuesday night, Wednesday, and Thursday. Currently, continental air is prevailing across most of Pakistan, with a shallow westerly wave expected to impact northeastern Balochistan and southern Punjab in the next 24 hours.
In these conditions, most districts in the province will experience mainly cold and dry weather, and freezing temperatures are expected in Murree and Galyat during Tuesday night and the next two days. However, there’s a possibility of light rain/drizzle with wind-thunderstorm in isolated areas such as Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Multan, Bahawalpur, Kot Addu, and Khanpur.
Shallow fog is expected at isolated places in Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Jhelum, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Bahawalpur during morning and night hours.
Lahore’s minimum temperatures are anticipated to range between 06-08 degrees Celsius on Wednesday and 05-07 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
Over the last 24 hours, most parts of the province experienced cold and dry weather, with shallow fog in some plain areas of Punjab. Murree and Galyat had rain/snowfall, with Murree recording 03 mm of rainfall and 01 inch of snowfall. Murree was the coldest place in the province, with the temperature dropping to 03 degrees Celsius below freezing. In Lahore, the minimum temperature was recorded at 06 degrees Celsius, with a morning relative humidity of 86 percent.
