The Emirates ID, issued by the UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security ICP, is a mandatory identification card for all UAE citizens and residents. It is a legal obligation to apply for and carry the ID card at all times.
In a recent development, citizens and residents, including Pakistanis and Indians, now have the option to download a virtual Emirates ID on their mobile phones, alongside the traditional hard copy, for easy verification.
The Federal Authority has introduced a mobile application that extends various services, including providing a soft copy of the ID card.
To download the Digital Emirates ID on a mobile phone, users can follow these simple steps using the ICA app available on both the Google Play Store for Android users and the Apple Store for iPhone users:
- Download and install the UAEICP app on your mobile phone.
- For new users, complete the registration by providing the necessary data.
- Log in to the app and select the “Emirates ID” option on the home screen.
- Access a digital copy of the Emirates ID card on the screen.
- Download the ID in PDF format.
- Users also have the option to generate a QR code for additional convenience by clicking on the “view QR code” button. This user-friendly process enhances accessibility and efficiency in managing Emirates ID documentation.
